Deadlines & Renewal ProcessBelow you can find clear information on the renewal deadlines, how to submit renewal applications, and any penalties for missing deadlines.
  • Determine the Type of License You NeedBased on your role and the type of pest control work you will do, decide if you need a Certified Applicator License or a Qualified Applicator License. Certified Applicators apply pesticides or supervise their application. Qualified Applicators use restricted-use pesticides (RUPs) and comply with state regulations.
  • Complete the Required TrainingStudy materials are available through the Arizona Department of Agriculture. Training covers the safe use of pesticides, pest management, and state regulations. If applying for a Qualified Applicator License, you must have the required experience (24 months as a certified applicator).
  • Pass the Licensing ExamSubmit an application and the appropriate fee ($55 for Certified Applicator, $75 for Qualified Applicator) paid via the Arizona Department of Agriculture’s Online Licensing and Payment System. Schedule and take the category-specific exam. Achieve a passing score of 75% or higher on the exam.
  • Submit Your ApplicationFill out and submit the application and proof of training and exam results. Include the application fee and any additional required documents. Make sure all information is correct to avoid delays.
  • Maintain Continuing EducationOnce licensed, complete continuing education on pest management practices and regulations. Attend workshops, seminars, or online courses to meet continuing education requirements. Renew your license as required by AZDA to keep it active.
  • Adhere to State RegulationsComply with all state regulations on pesticide use and pest control work. Keep records of pesticide applications and follow safety protocols. Stay informed of changes to state laws and regulations for pest control.
Continuing Education RequirementsContinuing education is required to keep a pest control license in Arizona. Arizona licensed pest control applicators must complete continuing education units (CEUs) annually to keep their license active and stay current with industry practices and regulations.
  • Arizona AG Continuing Education DeadlineApplicators are required to renew their certification every year by December 31st. Applicators have the option to renew their certification for either one year or two. CE requirements for both years must be met before renewing. A certified applicator who is not a QA shall, during the current certification period, obtain 6 CEU's in order to renew the certification for one year or 12 CEU's in order to renew for two years. A QA shall, during the current certification period, obtain 12 CEU's in order to renew the certification for one year or 24 CEU's in order to renew for two years.
  • Arizona PMD Continuing Education DeadlineApplicators must renew their certification each year by May 31st. Applicators have the option to renew for a two-year period. CE requirements must be met before renewing. *Arizona certified applicators must complete 6 CEUs per year. Qualified applicators must complete 12 CEUs per year. All licensees must be renew by May 31st. The six hours must include at least one hour of credit for each category for which the applicator is certified in. -If an applicator is certified in less than 6 categories he or she must still obtain a minimum of six continuing education credits each year. -If an applicator is certified in more than 6 categories he or she needs only a minimum of six continuing education credits each year.
